UKIFDA, the trade body for the liquid fuel distribution industry, adds support for the Government’s statement regarding the £100 fixed payment, confirming payments via electricity companies.
After additional discussions with the UK government, UKIFDA has cleared up that customers often hold multiple accounts with separate distributors due to the highly competitive nature of the heating oil market. As such, the £100 fixed payment method would be impossible using this method.
However, they reassured the public that they would continue to assist the Government as they shape the payment system using electricity companies. However, they advised that this would take time and that customers should await further information from the Government.
In addition, they also noted that customers who don’t have a relationship with an electricity supplier would be supported using an alternative method – ensuring they don’t miss out on the benefits. The Government will later confirm further details on this.
UKIFDA have recommended that customers who need heating oil shouldn’t wait, especially as we head into winter. Whilst advising that customers speak with their local distributors and not leave purchases until the winter rush.
