Cold Weather Priority Scheme
OilMaxx’s Cold Weather Priority Scheme is designed to help protect vulnerable heating oil customers across England during periods of extreme cold weather. As a UKIFDA member, we will implement strategies to identify customers in the ‘CWP’ (Customer with Priority) category.
These methods include:
Paying close attention when speaking to customers regarding heating oil orders
Keeping customers informed regarding the ‘CWP’ initiative
Giving customers the ability to opt-in as a ‘CWP’ customer
UKIFDA members are dedicated to identifying customers who may be considered vulnerable. We encourage customers to proactively inform their local fuel suppliers about individuals aged 75 and older, as this collaboration is essential in addressing this important issue.
Are You Vulnerable?
The CWP Initiative is dedicated to identifying and supporting the most vulnerable individuals, especially during periods of fuel shortages and extreme weather conditions. This program plays a crucial role in ensuring that these customers remain warm during the winter months.
By participating in the CWP Initiative, OilMaxx can effectively identify those in greatest need and prioritise their fuel deliveries accordingly.
Membership in the initiative is completely free of charge. To qualify, individuals must be 75 or older, or reside with at least one person who meets this age requirement.

It’s important now more than ever to protect those most vulnerable to the cold and as we get older we become more susceptible to cold conditions and are eligible.
Vulnerable people
The elderly, are amongst the most vulnerable during the colder months including disabilities, health conditions or anyone at risk in colder temperatures.
Cold Weather And Health
Deaths during the winter months are significantly higher than at other times. The reasons for this are complex. Cold weather can cause people to become unwell in various ways:
Direct cold exposure can result in death or severe illness due to hypothermia, although deaths where hypothermia is the primary cause are rare.
Exposure to cold can increase the risk of blood clots forming in the body, increasing the risk of heart attacks and strokes.
Cold exposure can also increase susceptibility to chest infections, worsen breathing problems and increase the risk of falls.
Longer-term effects include an increased risk of mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety.
Many people with care needs have underlying health conditions that put them at greater risk from cold.
